Women’s Intermediate Handgun
This is the next logical step in training after the Basic Handgun class. After learning the basics of grip, stance, sight picture, sight alignment, and trigger control the students should continue in their practice and training to become more comfortable in the skills learned. This class is broken up into 2 three hour days for a total of 6 hours.
The skills taught in the Intermediate Handgun class will be how to rapidly acquire a target while making a conscious decision whether or not it is a threat, and the +1 methodology of shooting (which is deliberate decision making to only shoot as long as you have a valid lethal force threat). Instruction will also include how to step, move, and follow through while defensive shooting.
As this class progresses the students will finish up with exercises in malfunction clearances and the beginning stages of working from the holster.
Required items to take this class:
- The student should own their own defensive handgun.
- The student must have a minimum of 3 magazines for a semi-automatic, if a revolver a minimum of three speed loaders.
- The student must have electronic hearing protection.
- The student must have proper eye protection.
- Student must have a hat with a bill.
- The student needs to wear a shirt that will not allow hot brass down the shirt collar.
- 100 rounds of Full Metal Jacket training ammunition.
No refunds will be issued on cancellations within 48 hrs of the course date. You may only reschedule one time for another course at a later date for no charge. Each additional time you reschedule you will be charged a $25 fee to reschedule. If you miss your scheduled class WITHOUT notifying us, you will NOT be allowed to reschedule without re-paying a $25 fee for the class. No refunds will be issued for missed classes.

This former professional swing dancer is now an accomplished 3-gun competitive shooter, firearms instructor, licensed private security professional, and mother of four. Alysia Burrows was born and raised in Orange County, California, so firearms were not an immediate area of focus until she married her Alaskan husband, Sean. It all changed after her first shot from a pistol, and it has been difficult to find a moment when she is not in close proximity to a firearm of her choice.
In 2015, she began experimenting in the world of competitive practical shooting, eventually finding her way to the sport of 3-gun. Currently, she leverages her large and rapidly increasing social media following to help influence other women and families to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights and participate in the action shooting sports.
Alysia proudly competes as a member of Team Federal Premium, Team Atlas Gunworks, and is Pro Staff for B&T USA. In 2020 she co-founded Elevated Training LLC to meet the ever increasing demand for quality firearms education. She has teamed up with Ready Gunner to provide a Women’s course that removes the fear and stigma that is often felt for first time gun owners.
